Hey! What’s up enviro-bloggers? We’re so excited to tell you
that we've just travelled to the USA, specifically we’re staying at the Baymont
hotel, located in Arlington county, this is an urban county located in the
state of Virginia. It’s usually cloudy at this time, although the temperature
usually ranges from 25 to 29 degrees Celsius, so we like the atmosphere here.
But the reason we
decided to travel so far is cause we will be participating in a project, the
nature conservancy, which has the support of more than a million members and
has contributed to the protection of more than 50 million hectares of land
worldwide through innovative conservation strategies, protecting specific
places where plant and animal species can survive for many generations. Knowing
all this we’re pleased to tell you that we've decided to become official
members of the organization and start reading about the program, plus the trip
to the headquarters has allowed us to carry out actions that contribute to the
achievement of the main objectives, for example; when we made our purchases we
took advantage to buy bags that can be used several times, this way we will
reduce the consumption of plastics, spending wisely is also a way to help, so
check the labels of the products, see if they can be recycled and the quality
of the items is something we consider. Being here also taught us to take more advantage
of digital tools and stop receiving emails or invoices in printed form to start
receiving them in digital form and save paper and ink, the same happens with
water, we have used as little as possible, only what is necessary for personal
hygiene and hydration.
This is simply incredible, it has made us broaden our
horizons to what we considered to caring for the environment, so; In the coming
days, we intend to continue telling you about our experiences, to share with
you what is being done and how you can help, so that we become more and more
people in favour of this type of program. We’re very happy and
excited about what we will learn in the training, taking courses like countering invasive species and even how to buy products like a simple sunscreen
that brings damage, but that will be until next time, see you! :)
